Vinegar eels are one of the easiest, most reliable live foods you can keep — perfect for tiny fry, picky eaters, and anyone who wants a zero‑maintenance culture that almost never crashes. These microscopic swimmers stay suspended in the water column longer than baby brine shrimp, giving your fry more time to feed and grow strong. Vinegar eels are very small, but just slightly larger than infusoria, making them the perfect second food for your baby fry. They are the bridge food for when your babies are still too small to eat baby brine shrimp, but are needing more than infusoria.
Every culture is raised intentionally in small batches, fed with home‑grown apples, and handled gently from harvest to your doorstep.

Why Vinegar Eels Are Amazing

Zero Maintenance
No aeration, no heaters, no daily feeding.
Just set them up and let them thrive.
Perfect food for Fry
They stay suspended in the water column for hours — ideal for tiny mouths that can’t chase fast prey.
Vinegar eel cultures are famously stable.
Even if you forget about them for months, they’ll still be alive and ready to harvest.
Odor‑Friendly
Mild apple‑cider smell only — no foul or fishy odor.
Endlessly Renewable
Once you start one culture, you can split it into more forever.

How They’re Grown

Your vinegar eels are:

- fed with home‑grown apples
- kept in clean apple‑cider vinegar
- harvested fresh to order
- handled gently to preserve density and activity
Small‑batch, intentional, and beginner‑friendly.

How to Use

To Feed Fry

- Pour a small amount of culture through a coffee filter or fine net.
- Rinse with tank water.
- Swirl into your fry tank.
The eels will stay suspended for hours, giving fry plenty of time to eat.

To Maintain Your Culture

- Keep at room temperature
- Add a splash of apple‑cider vinegar if levels drop
- Split into new jars when dense
- Harvest as needed
That’s it — they’re incredibly forgiving.
